Traveler (Geo)

Traveler (Geo)

5★GeoSwordSupport

TL;DR

Two buttons, both fast, both off cooldown constantly. The Skill heaves a rock out of the ground and the Burst throws up a ring of stone walls around you. Once you have the first constellation, and you will, standing inside that ring is worth 10% Crit Rate to whoever is in there. So you swap in, press both, press the Skill again, and swap your damage dealer into the ring.

Rotation

  1. Skill (E) on top of the enemies.
  2. Burst (Q) so the ring of walls comes up around them.
  3. Skill (E) again. It is back in about 6 seconds.
  4. Swap to your damage dealer and keep them standing inside the ring.

Abilities

Skill (E) A meteorite punches up out of the ground for Geo damage and stays there for about 30 seconds. It is a solid object: you can climb it, hide behind it, or drop it on a pressure plate. About a 6 second cooldown once the passive kicks in, and hold instead of tapping to place it somewhere specific.
Burst (Q) Costs 60 Energy, back in about 15 seconds. A shockwave that knocks enemies away from you and leaves a ring of stone walls where it stopped, standing for about 15 seconds. The walls block attacks.

The one mechanic to understand

The ring is the buff.

At Constellation 1, anyone standing inside the ring of walls gets 10% Crit Rate and shrugs off flinching. That is the whole support case for the character, and since the constellation is free it is where more or less every account starts. Two things follow. The walls have to actually go up around the fight, so cast the Burst where the enemies are and not where you happen to be standing. And the buff only starts once the walls exist, so the Burst that made them does not benefit. Cast it, then bring in the character who wants the Crit Rate.

What actually matters

The two or three real decisions. Everything else is noise.

  • Where the walls land. The shockwave pushes enemies outward before the walls form, so cast a little short of the pack rather than into it, or you will spend the rotation chasing them.
  • Energy Recharge, but only a bit. The fourth constellation refunds Energy for every enemy the shockwave hits, so around 130% is usually plenty. Anything past that is stats you could have spent on damage.
  • The Skill talent over the Burst talent. You cast the Skill twice as often, and its rock does the bulk of what damage they do.

Gear

A build that works. KeqingMains lists every other option.

Weapon Exaiphanes Blade, free from the Snezhnaya Archon Quest and the best option on every Traveler form. It costs nothing to level or refine, you just take it to that region's Statues of the Seven. Amenoma Kageuchi is the craftable stand-in until then, and its Energy refund on every Skill cast suits a character casting the Skill constantly.
Artifacts 4-piece Noblesse Oblige. They cast the Burst every rotation anyway, so the party gets 20% attack out of it for free.
Main stats Attack sands, Geo damage goblet, crit circlet. Take an Energy Recharge sands instead if the Burst keeps being late.

Works well with

Geo

Geo reacts with nothing worth planning around, so this is about resonance and about characters who like having a construct on the field. Anything else in the team is fine, it just is not the reason they are there.

Don't bother

  • Normal attacks. The string exists and you will never use it.
  • Treating the walls as a shield. They are cover you can stand behind, not a health bar, and they will not stop a floor boss.
  • Holding the Skill in a fight. The placement is for puzzles and climbing, and the extra time costs you a cast.
  • Wishing for constellations. Geo Traveler's are bought from Liyue's souvenir shop with the sigils you pick up exploring.
