Zibai

Zibai

5★GeoSwordMain Damage

TL;DR

Zibai's Skill flips her into a mode where her sword swings turn Geo and a meter starts filling. You spend that meter on a special version of the Skill, which finishes on a Lunar-Crystallize hit. Finish the four-swing string every time, because the fourth swing throws in a free reaction hit of its own. She needs a Hydro teammate for the reaction and a second moon character to switch half her kit on.

Rotation

  1. Your Hydro teammate goes first so there's Hydro sitting on the enemy.
  2. Skill (E) to enter the mode.
  3. Full four-swing string, then the special Skill (E). Four times through.
  4. Swap one of those strings out for Burst (Q) when it's ready.

Abilities

Skill (E) About 15 seconds in her mode. Normal and charged attacks turn Geo and nothing can override that. Roughly an 18 second cooldown, and swapping off ends the mode early.
Skill (E) in the mode The special strike, paid for out of the meter. Two hits, the second one a Lunar-Crystallize reaction. Four uses per mode.
Normal attacks A four-swing string. Once the party's Moonsign is at the higher level, the fourth swing adds a free Lunar-Crystallize hit on top.
Burst (Q) Costs 60 Energy. Two hits, the second a Lunar-Crystallize reaction, and it buys a little extra time on the mode if you cast it while you're in there.

The one mechanic to understand

Two moon characters, or don't take her.

The party has a Moonsign level and it goes up by one for each character carrying the mark. Zibai is one of them, so on her own the level sits at the lower tier and two things are missing: the extra reaction hit on her fourth swing, and most of her meter. Bring a second one and the level goes up and both of them switch on at once. This isn't a nice bonus for later, it's the difference between her working and her being a Geo character with a slow combo.

What actually matters

The two or three real decisions. Everything else is noise.

  • DEF, not attack. Sands, goblet, substats. Her plain Geo hits and her reaction hits both read off DEF, and an attack build does roughly nothing.
  • A Hydro teammate. No Hydro on the enemy, no Lunar-Crystallize, and the reaction is most of her damage.
  • Finish the string. The fourth swing carries the free reaction hit. Cutting the string short to press something else quietly throws it away, and it's the easiest mistake to make on her.

Gear

A build that works. KeqingMains lists every other option.

Weapon Crit first, DEF second. Flute of Ezpitzal is craftable and is one of the very few swords that comes with DEF on it at all.
Artifacts 4-piece Night of the Sky's Unveiling. 4-piece Husk of Opulent Dreams is the fallback while you farm it, since it's the other set that cares about DEF.
Main stats DEF sands, DEF goblet, crit circlet. A Geo damage goblet loses, because reaction damage ignores it. Around 130% Energy Recharge is plenty.

Works well with

HydroGeo

Hydro is the requirement. A second Geo character gives you the resonance and shreds Geo resistance, and a Geo one that also carries the moon mark covers both jobs at once.

Don't bother

  • Charged attacks. The four-swing string is the button.
  • Elemental Mastery. It feeds the reaction a little and it loses to DEF and crit every time.
  • Swapping out and back to stretch the mode. Leaving the field ends it.
  • Stacking Energy Recharge. Her Burst is a convenience, not the payoff.
